Expressions Art Show

The images above are waxes from the Expressions Art Show, held in November-December of 2009. This collaborated effort between painter (Cassia Ledeigh) and sculptor (Doug Young) presented a dynamic contrast between Cassia's larger-than-life, brightly colored oil portraits and Doug's small but mighty wax faces.

"I enjoy the creative process. There are times when I feel pulled to my studio by the clay and I can easily get lost in the work as I try to bring the clay to life. At the same time, I work hard to find the right balance between developing these representational figures and including my own artistic expression.

For commissioned bronze portraits, I gather photo references and as much information about the subject as possible. Whether I work on a life-size or a small scale, I try to capture that moment in the individual's life that best communicates something about that person."
